General Description

When using the Hybrid field bus connector HanŽ-Brid the optical module is the active interface on the device side. Due to ist mechanical construction, it is possible to integrate it directly into the electrical inserts and to fix it. In combination with normal hybrid cables this new connector system offers an economical and reliable connection in rough environments.

The advantages of fibre optics are:

  • large transmission distances

  • small sizes

  • no crosstalk

  • zero susceptibility to electromagnetic interference

  • galvanic separation of transmitter and receiver

  • small cable dimensions

  • no separated cables for power supply and data transfer

Power supply and TTL compatible signals for transmitter and receiver data represent the electrical device interface for the optical module. The connection is realized by means of flat cables and IDCs (insulation displacement connector) or by means of a board stacker.

The devices are suitable for multimode fibre cables (980/1000ľ POF SI, 200/230ľ HCSŽ SI). The maximum transmission distance is 50m for POF and 300m for HCS. Data rates of 12 Mbit/s NRZ are supported without having to consider the minimum link length. If requested, it is possible to realise versions with data rates up to 125 Mbit/s.

Han-BridŽ as appliance interface is available with a male and female connector for each, incoming and outgoing conductors.
There are two ways to terminate the circuits:

the bus terminator has to be mounted at the behinning and the end of the bus installation on the free connector on the appliance side. In the HanŽ 3A housing is implemented the resistor network for the bus termination and a galvanically separated DC/DC converter for the power supply of the resistor network. Due to the active bus terminator, no manual operation in the appliance's electronic is necessary to switch on and off the resistor network. At the same time the bus terminator guarantees the degree of protection for the free connector on the appliance side.
